A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.
~Marion C. Garretty
When you’re a girl, having a sister is one of the most special bonds ever. My sister and i are extremely close, we have interchangeable personalities, humour that complements each others personalities, we ground each other and frustrate each other, and at the end of it all, we play together like only sisters can.
A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves – a special kind of double.
~Toni Morrison
Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of.
You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there. ~Amy Li
When you’re an only child, you’re used to being on your own, but when its just the 2 of you… its likes mischief and mayhem mixed together, with a double dose of laughter and fun, and all things sisterly.
The last 6 months of my life were not just bad, they were awful.

i was SO alone.
My sister was somewhere near iceland, my mom on the other side of the country, and my dad adopted the stance of a mime. He was more like a spectre pacing the corridors watching the map of Germany on the wall, checking the calendar and the ZAR – Euro exchange rate. i had more conversations with the neighbours cat, which responded with miaows. i was so alone, i wanted to crawl into a cave and die ALONE…
i went to movies alone, went out to dinner alone, i went shopping alone, i sat on benches in parks… ALONE! i was soooo alone that going anywhere just amplified the aloneness to the point that i’d be at entertainment events… FULL of people and i had no one to speak to.
Often people are unhappy that i’m bad at keeping in touch, but my response is… ‘how can you miss me, if i won’t go away’ ![]()
As silly and as cliche’d as it sounds its only human that we take for granted all the things that are important to us, especially our friends and family. Being social creatures we need human contact to equilibrate us
I missed Taz these last few months, caught in a surge of misty eyes and frustration and anger and so many emotions…
i guess i’m glad she’s back, for however long she’s here for.
Welcome home Taz! you’re the best sister i coulda ever hoped for
Lovies you

aw i’m going to share these quotes with my sisters
I can imagine what it must have been like. My sisters and I get along great too. And yes we infuriate each other and want to kill each other at the best of times, but I could never imagine life without them.
Not to infringe on your lonliness, but this was a nice post. And we all feel lonely at the best of times. Thanks for sharing.
when you’re alone… its a nice way to let yourself feel all the things you usually hide from
I’m across continents from my sister at the moment.
Yes, we’re married. Yes, she has kids. True, wee’re not entirely ‘alone’.
We both still miss each other a lot.
After all, who can we call when our parents have done something absolutely ridiculously funny? Our brother? Lol! Sisters have a bond that men don’t understand. Lol.
“Sisters have a bond that men don’t understand.”
very very true
